Engineering works over the weekend of 10th/11th January 2015 saw closure of Charing Cross, Waterloo East, Cannon Street, and London Bridge (Eastern) stations. Therefore, North Kent services were diverted to Blackfriars and Victoria, whilst some terminated at New Cross. Here, we see Class 465 No. 465008 forming the rear portion of an eight-coach train from Blackfriars to Dartford. This ran fast from Blackfriars to Lewisham, then stopped at all stations to Dartford via Woolwich thereafter. In the background can still be seen the previous footbridge, this of which was assembled in 1977 using parts salvaged from the Blackfriars station rebuild.© David Glasspool

A westward view shows the new ''kinked'' alignment of the North Kent Line, works on the ''down'' side being well underway for the Crossrail track bed. In the foreground are the recent platform extensions, allowing the station to accommodate twelve-vehicle formations. © David Glasspool
