An Ashford-bound scene includes numerous historic artefacts worthy of mention. In the background, on the left, is the brick-built goods shed, which has since been demolished. On the right is the SER clapboard signal box of 1888 origin, whilst between this and the goods shed is the tall outer ''home'' signal. The timber level crossing gates and ''up'' platform home signal complete the scene. © John Horton
The SER-designed signal cabin remains in existence, although now acts purely as a gate box. The structure has worn this unusual green scheme since 1997. The level crossing gates, although hand-operated, date from 2003. © David Glasspool
The oldest features at this much rationalised station are the railings on the right, of SE&CR origin, lining the rear of the ''down'' platform, and the SER signal box. Both clapboard waiting shelters were on the far side of the footbridge. © David Glasspool
