Class 373

Trans Manche Super Train

4th July 2001

The only platform at Kings Cross capable of accommodating the "Regional" Class 373 sets was No. 1. Even then, however, the power car at the northern end of the formation fouled the points to platform 2. Platform 1 was equipped with two starting signals, one of these catering for long train formations such as the Class 373 sets and any rail tours. At the buffer stops is No. 3304, complete with "The White Rose" branding. © David Glasspool

Dover Western Docks saw its last scheduled service on 24th September 1994 as a result of the decline in boat traffic and the commencement of Eurostar. Thirty-eight Class 373 formations were built, seven of which were short-formed. British-owned No. 3016 is seen passing through Farningham Road with a London-bound service. The two nose covers below the headlights can be removed and a barrier wagon attached, allowing the unit to be dragged by a locomotive. © David Glasspool
