Half set No. 3219 brings up the rear of the service seen in the previous photograph, at Sydenham Hill. Each power car of a Class 373 formation weighs some 68½ tonnes, and a complete ''Three Capitals'' set, with eighteen carriages and two power cars, weighs over 816 tonnes. © David Glasspool
Set No. 3008 breezes through Shortlands with a Waterloo-bound working, unit No. 3007 trailing. When CTRL Phase 2 became fully operational, all Class 373 sets lost their third rail shoe gear, to reduce maintenance costs. © David Glasspool
The spruce crème brick work of Shortland's island platform buildings can be appreciated in this westward view, as a rather grubby No. 3007 brings up the rear of the service seen in the previous picture. © David Glasspool
