Above, Rail Express Systems-liveried Class 47 No. 47765 is depicted at Ramsgate after bringing in the summer Saturdays-only cross-country service from Birmingham, on 24th August 1996. In tow are BR Mk air-conditioned carriages in InterCity ''Swallow'' livery. © Andre Kent

No. 47971 is seen a year later at Ramsgate, now with Virgin-liveried Mk 2 stock in tow and alongside 4 VEP No. 3585. The train is stabled in the same platform as that in the previous picture, but the diesel is at the opposite end of the formation. © Andre Kent

An interesting sight through Farningham Road on one of various EMU scrap movements was No. 47811. It is seen here leading 4 Vep unit Nos. 3562 and 3453 on the 5Z45 Ramsgate to Caerwent move. © David Glasspool


4th February 2006

 

No. 47712 ''Artemis'' was seen hurtling through Paddock Wood, top and tailing with No. 47709 ''Dionysos'' on the London Victoria to Folkestone Harbour and Dungeness ''Blue Pullman''. The first test run of this whole new refurbished formation took place on 5th January 2006, and this was followed on 12th of the same month by the first public service.
