Photograph 8: On the edge of the Thames, along Clifton Marine Parade, the main office buildings of the paper mills still exist. That building closest to the camera, known as "The White House", formerly had a pitched roof, but this was rebuilt in the 1990s to incorporate a third floor. The building is host to memorial plaques for both Alfred Harmsworth (1st Viscount Northcliffe), who died on 14th August 1922, and those mill employees killed in action during World War I. © David Glasspool
Photograph 9: On the opposite side of the road to the offices can be seen the remains of those tracks which are visible in photographs 3 and 4. © David Glasspool
