lift the locomotive. © Denis Hooker

One of the fifteen air-braked ferry wagons is seen on its side in this view from behind the ''up'' platform. The Civil
Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Department's Dutch-liveried Class 73 and BR Mk 1 support coach can be
seen in the background, stabled in the ''down'' side bay. Also of interest in this view is the platform face of the
long-closed ''up'' side bay line (now host to SR prefabricated concrete fencing) and the extent of the ''up'' building's
brick base. © Denis Hooker

A view along the ''down'' side's approach road reveals that one of the wagons managed to mount the platform,
demolishing the canopy and a large proportion of the walkway's crème brick wall. © Denis Hooker

Five days after the crash, once normal service had been resumed, the ''down'' side building is seen completely
devoid of a canopy. The crash had ripped up much of the track work, and replacement rails and new ballast are
in evidence. The extent of the walkway's demolished wall can also be observed in this view. © Denis Hooker
