Paddock Wood

In April 2013, proposals were put forward by Network Rail to Paddock Wood Town Council for a new station footbridge. The results of those plans are seen nearing completion in the above view. The footbridge has been erected at the western ends of the platforms and the lift towers have been encased in red brick, frescoed with stone edges, to be more in keeping with the surviving bygone architecture. © Mike Glasspool

In conjunction with the footbridge works, the canopies are also undergoing refurbishment, which at least means that an important survivor of the SER station has a secure future. The eastern end of the ''down'' canopy is seen minus roof and valances. © Mike Glasspool

An eastward view from the existing lattice footbridge shows that this end of the ''up'' canopy (right) has started receiving fresh corrugated roof cladding, in addition to the SER clover-style timber valance. © Mike Glasspool

Fronting "The Canterbury Champion" Pathfinder Tour, Class 52 No. D1015 "Western Champion" (masquerading on one side as No. 1041 "Western Prince") is seen passing through with a train comprising mostly of ex-Virgin Trains BR Mk 2f stock. Bound for Canterbury West, the train had originated from Tame Bridge Parkway station, about 5¾ miles north west of central Birmingham, and was running nearly 2½ hours late. © Wayne Walsh
