This northward view from the southern track foot crossing is of interest, for it includes the framework of the
large restaurant complex, on the right, during the thick of construction work. Also in view is the recently-erected
footbridge, formerly in use at Lingfield in Surrey. There, it had been in use as a secondary footbridge to cater for
racecourse traffic. At the time of this view, it was not yet open, and track foot crossings still existed at either end
of the platforms. Mike Glasspool

The track foot crossing at the northern end of the platforms was for staff use only. When the footbridge
eventually came into use, this was totally abolished, but the track foot crossing to the south was retained
for staff use only. The fenced viewing area had yet to emerge on the left. In the distance is a five coach
service for Horsted Keynes, hauled by ''Schools'' Class No. 928, formerly of the Beaulieu Motor Museum.

BR Standard Tank No. 80064 is seen running round its train in this northward view from the footbridge. By
this time, a multitude of structures had emerged on the platforms: on the right can be seen the canopy of the
gift shop, whilst on the left can be seen the model railway room (with open door), and on the extreme left,
the stall of the ''Bulleid Society''. Mike Glasspool
