Tonbridge West Yard

TOPS Code: TG

31st May 2004

A prominent feature at the yard is the lengthy footbridge which crosses all tracks of the yard and those of the Tonbridge to Redhill line. A separate and far more modern footbridge is in place over the double-track line from Sevenoaks. The lengthy footbridge is seen on 31st May 2004. © David Glasspool

An eastward view on 31st May 2004 shows a 4 Vep approaching Tonbridge Station and a rusty double-slip arrangement in the foreground. A wilderness is taking a stronghold to the right of the freight sidings. Additional EMU stabling lines are indicated by the lamp posts behind the 4 Vep. © David Glasspool

There are a few ventilated van bodies at the site, which presumably contain tools and spares. Up until the mid-1960s these would have been a common sight at the yard, but actually on the rails! This example, seen on 30th June 2004, is immediately to the east of the footbridge. © David Glasspool
