Waterloo East

Now on the northern platform (''A''), the pleasing red brick offices of the island are on view.
Platform A's canopy has been truncated: it formerly covered the whole of the area lined with
clapboard (up to the wall with the yellow sign). David Glasspool

A closer 3rd July 2006 view shows the truncated canopy of platform A, on the left, and also in
the background, the 1988 modifications to the lattice footbridge's upper half. The latter certainly
has not weathered particularly well. Prominent over the site are the offices of the adjacent Waterloo
terminus. David Glasspool

This final 3rd July 2006 view reveals No. 465240 forming the rear of an eight vehicle service,
heading towards London Bridge. When Metropolitan Junction is reached, the quadruple track
is reduced to double-track for the short distance to Borough Market Junction. A single-track
is also still maintained on the curve round to Cannon Street, this being used by empty stock
movements. There used to be a Charing Cross to Cannon Street shuttle service. David Glasspool
