Kent Rail

Class 66

South Eastern Division

No. 66573 has originated from Thamesport. It is seen passing Stone Crossing

No. 66573 of the Freightliner 66/5 sub class is seen heading westwards through Stone Crossing

station on 1st July 2004. This locomotive still retains its traditional hook and chain coupling,

although the headlight clusters are of the later type as a result of recent railway safety regulations.

These locomotives took over from Class 47s on container workings to and from Thamesport, the

latter of which had been employed by British Rail since Thamesport opened at the turn of the 1990s.

No. 66514 out on the Cliffe marshes

A location which is picturesque in summer, but bleak in winter. On a gloriously hot and sunny

30th August 2005, No. 66514 is seen appearing immediately after coming off the junction where

the branch to Grain and that to Cliffe Gravel Worksdiverge. This is the 10:39 Thamesport to

Tilbury ''Freightliner'' service. David Glasspool

No. 66540 rounding the curve at Bexley

Cruising through the bygone environs of Bexley on 1st December 2004 with an impressive load behind

it is No. 66540. No. 66540 is hauling the 10:39 Thamesport to Tilbury container service, which takes

a circuitous route via the West London Line, even though Tilbury is just across the Thames from Grain!
