Class 73

Electro-Diesel

1980

No. 73132 was seen pairing with Class 33 No. 33209 at Strood. The Electro-Diesel was re-painted into BR ''Large Logo'' livery not long after the above picture was taken, and was latterly deployed on Gatwick Express services, before these received a dedicated pool of locomotives. It was scrapped in Rotherham in 2006. © Wayne Walsh

1983

No. 73129 is seen in its later guise of ''City of Winchester''. It is heading southwards down the Medway Valley Line, past Reed Paper Mill, New Hythe, with the ''British Pullman'' part of the ''Orient Express''. © Wayne Walsh

1983

In late 1983, double-headed Class 73s wearing BR Blue livery are seen passing Higham's ''up'' platform with a rake of ferry vans, most of which are VTG ''Cargowaggon'' variants. © Chris
