All three shelters of 1978 are visible in this northward view from the approach to the "down" platform. On the left, behind the "up" platform and with surrounding scaffolding, can be seen new holiday accommodation nearing completion. The design of the latter is based on a GWR signal box and it is built on the former site of the timber building of 1912, which burnt down in 2003. © David Glasspool
An HST set from Paddington, led by power car No. 43093, passes through non-stop in the "down" direction in this northward view. On the left is the camping coach site, which by this time came under the "Brunel Holiday Park" name; it comprised seven BR Mk 1 carriages and a sole 1941 LMS inspection saloon. Beyond the camping coaches can just be seen the completed GWR-styled holiday accommodation behind the "up" platform. © David Glasspool
Langstone Rock forms the backdrop of this view, as our HST set rounds the curve to the sea wall, power car No. 43092 trailing. The formation is passing milepost 204¾ from Paddington via Bristol. © David Glasspool
After the passing of the HST, "Pacer" No. 142030 was able to escape from the "down" platform loop with a stopping service from Exmouth to Paignton. © David Glasspool
