Upon the shelf are standard SR block instruments for communication with adjacent signal boxes. Below was a frame of 24-levers, most of which appeared to be in use at the time. The next signal box eastward was at Edenbridge, and that westward was Redhill ''B'' (the cabin at Nutfield having closed in 1970). © Peter Gibbons
Red levers controlled ''stop'' signals, black levers controlled points, and white levers were designated ''spare''. Out of view on the right was a yellow lever, which controlled a ''distant'' signal. © Peter Gibbons
The signal box formerly had windows at the pinnacle of the gable, but by the time of this photograph, these had been boarded up. The same could be said for those windows within the cabin's base. The gable valance was a standardised Railway Signal Co. pattern. © Peter Gibbons
