The new platform surface was still partially barricaded during the first weekend of operation. All staircases of the new footbridge were in use by this time, but the lift shafts had still not been fitted out. © David Glasspool

The footbridge still had some of its ''bubble wrap'' on and the ''down'' side building's canopy was missing a section of its timber valance. On the right, behind the railings, can be seen a service stabled in the newly-created bay line. © David Glasspool

A London-bound view shows the bay and ''up'' lines converging on the left, a colour aspect light and the obligatory CCTV pole being situated within the fork of the tracks. The signal post seen here is for the ''up'' line, that for the bay being out of view to the left. In the distance exists a facing crossover. © David Glasspool
