The double-track line exits from Gravesend Station's easterly end and cuts through the town, passing underneath no less than six arched bridges. Class 375 No. 375708 is seen trundling out of the brick-lined cutting, London-bound, with No. 375823 trailing on the rear. © David Glasspool

The ''main line'' station feel is brought to the fore as unit Nos. 375708 and 375823 are seen again taking the ''up'' through road. This was a daily empty stock movement, routed via Woolwich Arsenal. © David Glasspool

Class 465 No. 465167 is just about to depart on the rear of the 14:10 service to Gillingham, from platform 2. The base of the former water tower, demolished the following year, can be seen on the right, through the branches of the trees. Works were underway to renovate the booking halls on both platforms. © David Glasspool
