The brick-built signal box, seen to the left of the 46-Ton VDA sliding-door vans, came into use on 14th June 1964, replacing a much older timber cabin. It controlled the junction for only a short period, the Dartford Panel taking over on 16th May 1971. © David Glasspool

Manual point levers are in evidence in this westward view of the ''up'' yard. The curved track in the foreground eventually terminates in ''B'' Shunt Neck - this is one of the two headshunts seen in the eastward view on the previous page. © David Glasspool

A grubby trio of EWS' 102 tonne BRA steel strip carriers are seen stabled in the ''up'' yard. These wagons were built by Thrall, York, in 1999, to convey steel strip under cover, to protect it from the elements. © David Glasspool
