Subsequent redevelopment of the surrounding area makes it difficult to photograph the entire station frontage,

both Eastern and Central Section stations. Three very different buildings stand side-by-side, all commissioned

The Grosvenor Hotel has been in private ownership since 1982, when it was sold to ''Thistle Hotels'' after a

management buyout failed. On nationalisation in 1948, it was brought under the wing of the ‘’Hotels &

Catering Services Division’’ of the British Transport Commission. © David Glasspool

Despite the redevelopment which has taken place over the Central Section platforms, the western wall from

1908 still remains in its entirety. It provides a side entrance for the station and the above shopping centre.
