The space where a fourth platform track was incorporated into the design, but never laid, is obvious in this northward view, on the eastern side of the trainshed. The one operational platform in this view is numbered 3; the pair on the other side are 4 and 6, so not a logical sequence. The roof at this stage is glazed, but the sides are open. © David Glasspool

The island seen in this northward view comprises platforms 4 and 6, which are on the right and left respectively. The bridge links the main deck with a lift and stairs to the platforms and, obscured in the background, a series of escalators. This is the southern half of the trainshed. © David Glasspool

Looking down at platforms 4 and 6 from the upper deck of the northern trainshed, the rails and platforms of the 2010-opened tram link can just be seen beyond the concrete supports. © David Glasspool

A northward view from the “Rhônexpress” escalators shows the tramway double-track narrowing to single, before widening again about 600-metres on. The bridge over the rails in the background passes through the trainshed at an angle and carries part of the airport’s road network that links various car parks. A similar bridge intercepts the southern portion of the trainshed, but is pedestrianised. © David Glasspool

A fleet of six trams built by Swiss manufacturer "Stadler Rail", one of which is seen here immediately after arriving from Part-Dieu, were procured specifically for the airport service. Between 06:00 and 21:00, a “Rhônexpress” service frequency of fifteen minutes in either direction is maintained; between 04:25 and 06:00, and 21:00 and 00:00, departures are every thirty minutes. © David Glasspool
