RfD No. 47445 is seen alongside a locomotive of a later generation, Class 60 No. 60009, at
Didcot Parkway on 22nd March 1991. No Class 60s were ever allocated to the RfD sector,
instead being split between TrainLoad Coal and Construction sectors, the latter of which
No. 60009 was a member. Mike Glasspool
A sparkling No. 47222 is seen at Peterborough on 6th October 1991. Note that the colours of the
RfD logo are featured parallel to the cab door. This locomotive had been part of the TrainLoad
Petroleum sector the previous year, which explains its fresh paint coat. David Glasspool Collection
In contrast to the above picture, we see a rather sorry looking No. 47317 at Tinsley on 14th October
1995. The locomotive had originally been named ''Willesden Yard'' and the watermark of the removed
nameplate can still be seen. This was the year that Freightliner became detached from the RfD sector
and subsequently, this locomotive became part of the standalone container operation's fleet. In 1998
it began a new life as a Class 57. David Glasspool Collection
