A north easterly (Cairns-bound) view shows the hand-operated lever which changes the points. Today, trains use the track on the right-hand side, nearest the former station building, the canopy of which can just be seen emerging from the trees. © David Glasspool

A southward view from the opposite end of the layout to the previous photograph shows both tracks gradually returning to nature. The curious timber hut on the left is separated from the main section of the station building by a tree, but is similarly supported upon stilts. © David Glasspool

The 15:30 Scenic Railway departure from Kuranda is seen rumbling over Redlynch level crossing at about 17:00. The rake of restored vintage carriages are double-headed in this view by Class 1720 diesel-electric locomotives. Fifty-six of these diesels were built over a four year period from 1966 at Eagle Farm, Brisbane, by Clyde Engineering. © David Glasspool
