New rolling stock and platform lighting are evident, but all major infrastructure seen in the 1989 view remains unchanged, albeit with new coats of paint. Class 171 No. 171728 is seen in the ''down'' platform loop with a Hastings-bound service, waiting for the arrival of sister unit No. 171730 from the Sussex Coast. © David Glasspool

The station building comprises triple arches across its entrance, and the upper floor windows of the building's central section are at a lower level than those which face the running lines. On the right is the former Southern Railway parcels office, which now functions as a cafe. © David Glasspool

A Hastings-bound view of the entire layout includes an escape lane on the right and the truncated remains of the ''down'' siding on the left. The tall lampposts of the platforms are replicated in the car park, on the left. © David Glasspool
