The delightful station building shows signs of later brickwork within its nearside end elevation. The brick
replaced vertically-aligned timber planking, but the window design has nevertheless remained the same.
Timber upon the façade can still be seen around the windows below the porch canopy. David Glasspool

''Austerity'' Saddle Tank No. 25 ''Northiam'' (formerly WD 197) is seen waiting to depart with the first train of
the day, the 10:40 to Bodiam. The white-painted concrete lamppost on the right came into use in about 1947,
and supported electric lighting from the outset. David Glasspool

''Northiam'' is seen departing with the aforementioned service, over the level crossing. Of note is the diamond
-shaped warning panel on the crossing gate, rather than the more customary circular examples. Diamond
warning panels were a feature of other station crossings along the line before 1948. David Glasspool
