Waterloo International

A southward view shows how long the platforms are: a ten-car Class 450 formation, left, is nowhere near the end of the trainshed. In the distance, hoardings can be seen around staircases which formerly gave access to the low-level. © David Glasspool

To the immediate right of Class 450 No. 450124, one of the gaps in the wall between platform Nos. 19 and 20 can be seen, closed off by a large pair of grey gates. After 28th August, Nos. 21 to 24 closed again to "South West Trains" services, but No. 20 - which can be reached through holes in the wall from platform No. 19, remained in use for Windsor line workings. © David Glasspool

1st September 2017

Between 26th August and 2nd September 2017, Charing Cross, Waterloo East, and London Bridge stations were completely closed, to allow major works at the latter as part of the "Thameslink" programme. To partly compensate for the loss of services, Southeastern ran two services per hour from Waterloo International from 29th August to 1st September inclusive. These reached South Eastern Division lines by using Nine Elms Flyover. Here, Class 375 No. 375302 is seen forming a service to Dover Priory via Sevenoaks and Tonbridge. Southeastern services returned to the former international station in December of the same year when another closure of the line through London Bridge took place. © David Glasspool
