Waterloo International

The £800 million scheme to increase capacity at Waterloo by 30% involved lengthening platform Nos. 1 to 4 inclusive to accommodate ten-car suburban services. For these works, platform Nos. 1 to 10 were closed from 5th August to 28th August. To partially make up for the loss of station capacity, platform Nos. 20 to 24 of the former international station were brought into use for domestic traffic. In this view, it can be seen that a concrete bridge had been built from the former international terminal to the main station concourse. © David Glasspool
