Folkestone Harbour

A seaward view shows the severe reverse curves of the platforms and, in the background, a glimpse of the SR enclosed concrete footbridge, erected during 1938. The canopy on the left is of 1938 origin, dating from the improvement works, whilst that o the right is a British Rail product, completed after the closure of the rolling stock berthing sidings and the extension of the ''up'' platform. © David Glasspool

A landward view shows both the signal box and ''down'' platform canopy to be in good condition. The station's ''up'' side has a distinct air of neglect; a roofless canopy, a decaying valance, and a lack of a platform line. The signal cabin, like the ''down'' platform, had also been painted in VSOE colours, complete with a new name board. © David Glasspool

A seaward view, but this time from a level crossing far inland, reveals the final curve in the background, which leads to the famous harbour viaduct. All rails upon the viaduct and on the route north of the harbour are intact: only the ''up'' side track within the actual station has disappeared. The ''up'' line is on the right of the above view, and the fact that it is no longer used is indicated by surface rust upon the rails. © David Glasspool
